A double whammy from David
How's everyone doing? In these very strange times where most of us are working from home; socially isolating ourselves and realising what is most important in our lives, I thought I'd share two tutorials with you to help you with your Future Proofing journey.
Even in concerning times like these, where the world is in shutdown, we can think ahead. Maybe use the isolation time to learn new things; cooking, exercise, catching up on films or books, another language, art or music. Or just ways to take time out and reflect.
Over the past few weeks, I've been testing myself by randomly flicking to a page in my book, then immediately talking about it whilst recording for my YouTube channel. Should be easy really, I'm confident about my subject. Today I'm sharing two examples.
Talking Confidently About Yourself
The first tutorial is about you and Talking Confidently About Yourself. The ability to talk confidently about yourself is a very important skill. One that should easily be utilised in any given situation, even impromptu scenarios, as life isn't scripted.
However, talking confidently about yourself can be a hard task, but it is important to be able to sell yourself to your friends, family and colleagues. You should work towards building confidence and being able to talk about yourself. This is one part of how to be confident at work and in your career, as you never know when a difficult conversation may arise. In the video, I share tips on how you can develop this skill.
Finding Recruitment Opportunities The second tutorial discusses Finding Recruitment Opportunities and challenges we may face. It's a bit of an eye opener. With many very skilled and incredibly experienced CVs in the job market now, we have to learn different ways to present ourselves, but also to ask if our skills are still suitable for the career path we may be looking at. Ageism can seem to be rife, especially within the recruitment process with so many young, dynamic hopefuls sending in their applications, so for those of a certain age, we may need to be a bit clever, change our ways and think about whether recruitment agencies are the right way to go. With many very skilled and incredibly experienced CVs in the job market now, we have to learn different ways to present ourselves, but also to ask if our skills are still suitable for the career path we may be looking at. Consider the following:
interim work for a few months, get new experience, show your worth and then apply for that job or others
approach companies and key players directly, use your LinkedIn and other networks to get introduced or let you know of opportunities coming up
Remember we are our own Limited Company, so it's a case of looking at and marketing ourselves in a different way. Things don't happen overnight, it's tough. In this video, I give tips on how best to approach the job market with confidence.
I hope that these videos give you a chance to reflect on where you are and how to Future Proof Yourself.
I wish you and your families good health. Keep safe. Regards, David NB: Please discover coaching tips and highlights, interviews and experiences on the following links. Enjoy: David Yeabsley : YouTube Channel Future Proofing Yourself : Website/Coaching Offering
