Recruitment Interviewing

Selecting the ‘right person’ for the ‘right job’ is the key to successful recruitment. When looking to fill a vacancy, recruiters must carefully consider the skills and competencies required for each role. From examining job descriptions and person specifications through to the selection interview itself – delegates will be encouraged to consider legal and best practice throughout.

This course demonstrates a structured competency based approach to ensure delegates recruit the right person - first time. This will be done by asking brilliant questions which help the candidate demonstrate if they can or cannot do the job. Highly participative, delegates will have the opportunity to put the learning into practice with a range of challenging exercises.

Cultural Awareness

The nature of our workplaces has changed. Most businesses will now have team members from all over the world. With this new multicultural make-up come differences in cultures which in turn bring differences in areas such as communication styles, approach to time, managerial styles and a whole host of other cross cultural differences. Within a multicultural team, a person's cultural background will impact how they act and behave. There will be differences in areas such as communication, attitude to towards conflict, approaches to task completion and decision making styles. Unless people come to realise these differences between them through cultural awareness, problems can continue and even intensify.

Generational Awareness

This thought-provoking workshop looks at the challenges of bringing together, developing and motivating across the four generations that now typically exist in the workplace. The workshop aims to increase understanding and empathy across the generations as participants share the experiences that have shaped their thinking and explore how differing perspectives and strengths can provide both challenge and opportunity!

This workshop will cover; Definitions; Baby Boomers, Generations X,Y and Z – the reality and stereotype behaviours

This 2 hour fast-moving, thought-provoking and entertaining session looks at the challenges of bringing together, developing and motivating Generation X, Y and now Z’s.

The participants will discuss and explore the challenges that businesses face with the different generations of people who are now in the working environment, with the aim of identifying how we can develop and motivate across the generations and how each generation can learn from each other’s strengths and ways of working to maximise the benefits of diversity in views, skills, knowledge and experiences.

Train the Trainer Course

This very interactive programme will provide the participants with the skills and confidence to design and deliver interactive and impacting training sessions to achieve business goals in the areas of behaviour, performance and knowledge.

The programme will cover how to identify the importance of linking training to the needs of the business and demonstrate how training effects performance and the business.

The practical side will come from sessions covering learning styles and how people learn, Identify the training process and the best structures to use, design and deliver a training session and how to manage group dynamics and deal with difficult situations along with how to develop your own training aids and deliver training with confidence.

Employment Law for Managers

Many modern organisations are delegating responsibility for many traditional personnel issues to their line managers. As employment law becomes more complex, the role of managing staff becomes more demanding. It is vital that Line Managers have the correct practical understanding of employment law to feel secure in the decisions that they make. The wrong decisions can be extremely costly and Employment Tribunals are awarding higher settlements.

This course is therefore aimed to provide Line Managers with the essential elements of Employment Law and understanding on how and when to apply it before, during and after employment.

Discovering Competency Frameworks

Competency Frameworks are a widely recognised tool within organisations and are used to in the effective recruitment and management of staff. This course helps managers understand Competency Frameworks and how they can be effectively used to manage their people.

The course provides managers with best practice techniques on how to use Competency Models to profile members of staff and enhance Development Reviews, Appraisals and Performance Management and Succession Planning.

The delegates will learn how to carry out an effective review using Competencies and identify individual role profiles to identify and effectively develop their employees.

Absence Management

To provide participants with the skills and ability to identify and address problems of poor attendance and prolonged sickness absence via the effective use of absence management.

The key reasons for absence and how to effectively deal with them.

Understanding of conduct versus capability to manage absence in the correct manner within the correct confines of the policies and procedures.

Deliver effective, best practice solutions to absence management within the organisation. Knowledge, skill and confidence as a line manager in absence management Skills and knowledge used to carry out effective sickness management practices i.e Return to work interviews.

Develop Action plans for dealing with sickness/absence.

Disciplinary and Grievance

This workshop is for team leaders who are required as part of their job description to carry out effective Disciplinary Investigations, Meetings or Appeal Meetings.

The purpose of this module is to provide the team leader with the necessary skills and understanding of key legislation and the need to follow defined procedures. It also will enable them to learn effective best practice techniques with regard to carrying out an effective Disciplinary or Grievance Meeting, understand and explain the role of discipline and grievance in improving performance levels.

Effective Recruitment & Selection

The aim of this highly interactive two day programme is to provide the participants with the skills and the confidence to effectively carry out an effective and professional interview.

This course will provide the participants with the abilities to transfer the key learning points to their own working environment and deliver best practice interviewing techniques to recruit the most suitable candidate for the role.

The course will also involve the delegates in carrying out an interview with a delegate from Active Training Team who are professional actors. They will simulate an interview scenario playing the part of the applicant. It is highly interactive, great fun and the delegates will leave with constructive and positive feedback to take back to the workplace.

Respect at Work

This course looks at how we value and respect ourselves and others in order to maximize potential and improve communication and performance outcomes. Staff need to create an environment of mutual respect whilst raising standards.

Delegates will understand how to improve relationships within the workplace through positive communication and identify best practice policies around professional behaviour to be able to actively deal with tricky situations.

Redundancies and Out-Placement

This course will help delegates who are facing redundancy to identify their strengths, achievements and opportunities to enable them to focus on their future goals and career aspirations.

This course can be run as a two or three day event starting with CV writing skills followed by Interviewing Skills which will provide them with the skills to apply and attend interviews.
