HEALTH AND WELLBEING

Building A Healthy, High Performing Team

Introduction

  • Are you investing to increase productivity in the new uncertain world of work?

  • Are you looking to improve your employee’s performance, productivity and engagement?

  • Are you considering how to connect with employees in a more holistic and inclusive level?

  • In this competitive job market, are you challenged with retaining and attracting talent?

  • Is employee absence an issue for you?

In the post-covid, post-Brexit world of uncertainty for organisations and individuals the importance of high performing teams at both an organisational and personal level is growing. Studies of the behaviours, characteristics and capabilities of these teams miss one crucial factor – the health and wellbeing of the team leaders and members.

Organisations want and need their teams to be motivated, have mental clarity, productivity and energy, have team stability and connectedness and be able to work at their most healthy, happy, and focused. The return on investment associated with having healthy, happy focussed staff includes the overall health care cost-savings achieved, improved morale, as well as productivity increases due to a reduction in sick days taken by employees.

Whether you are a business, charity or group wanting to be able to feel your best and give your best, Sheila offers a selection of workshops (outlines linked below), that can be tailored or combined to meet the desired outcomes for your team and your business. The content will be bespoke to your organisation.

Workshop Outlines:

  • How To Live Awesomely

  • Navigating Lifestyle Assaults

  • Fit For Life

  • Are Your Lifestyle Choices Making You Sick?

  • Is Stress Stressing You Out?

The sessions can run as part of a programme designed to meet your needs, or as individual 90 minutes, half day or day workshops providing coaching, discussion, take-away materials, challenges and include interactive breakout sessions.

Are Your Lifestyle Choices Making You Sick

DID YOU KNOW THAT 80% OF YOUR BODY COMPOSITION IS DETERMINED BY WHAT YOU EAT!?

Obtain the knowledge and foundations to eat yourself well. Your fabulous body will thank you.

Attendees will leave this workshop with an understanding of exactly what impact food choices can have on mental, physical and emotional health from sluggishness, gut discomfort and bloatedness, aching joints and migraines, lethargy, low mood, low libido and sleep issues to T2 diabetes, IBS, skin disorders and weight gain.

The good news is that change need not be difficult, in fact adapting your choices to include satisfying, highly nutrient value and low insulin stimulating foods that are fresh, colourful, unadulterated and absolutely delicious, will immediately increase your enjoyment of food and the benefit it brings.

Participants will walk away with the tools to make easy sustainable and holistic changes to their nutrition and lifestyle.

This workshop covers:

  • Primal food pyramid : Nutrition = taking things back to basics

  • Shopping and labels

  • Poisonous things / things to avoid

  • Lifestyle based diseases : metabolic, auto-immune, chronic inflammation

  • 80/20 rule

  • T2 / insulin resistance

  • Meal and snack suggestions and recipes

Pre and type 2 diabetes, obesity, chronic inflammation and other debilitating metabolic and auto-immune conditions can be caused by long-term adverse lifestyle practices such as eating a high-carbohydrate and high sugar diet, sedentary living and a stressful environment. Although modern medicine, science and especially, the food industry, may not agree, YOU can have a tremendous impact on how your genes express themselves by altering your lifestyle behaviours.

As the sayings go ‘if you put rubbish in, you’ll get rubbish out’ AND ‘you can’t out exercise a bad diet.

Is Stress Stressing You Out?

WHEN 'LIFE' HAPPENS, WHICH, OF COURSE IT DOES, HOW DO WE DEAL WITH IT?

WHAT CAN WE CONTROL, WHAT CAN WE LET GO OF?

This course covers how stress impacts your mental and physical wellbeing, how to recognise and how to create healthy and positive strategies to check in with yourself, how to deal with overwhelm and recognising positive stresses in your life.

Participants leave with a greater sense of empowerment and confidence to take control of situations and deal with life's challenges.

Stress is a hidden challenge. You appreciate when someone has a broken bone or other visual medical condition, but mental fitness is not obvious, whether it is a friend, family member, partner or work colleague, it is not visible.

On a broader societal level, an ongoing global mental health crisis exacerbated by the pandemic and associated lockdowns has produced staggering impacts. Lost schooling, altered work conditions, job losses, isolation and the economic downturn have put all ages at risk of higher rates of depression, anxiety, PTSD, and lost productivity. The costs of worsening mental health could rise to as much as $1.6 trillion over the next 10 years in just the US alone.

WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM Jan 2021

Such a huge, personal and delicate subject, but one that should be openly discussed. It can affect our mental fitness, our body, wellness and our relationships – especially when it feels out of our control. It can make us feel anxious and irritable, and effect our self-esteem. Experiencing a lot of stress over a long period of time can also lead to a feeling of physical, mental and emotional exhaustion.

  • Stress and your body

  • Check in and recognition

  • Habits and reactions

  • What is stress?

  • Positives

  • Limits

  • Experiences / adversity / differences

  • Strategies and Measuring

  • Controlling the controllables

  • Creating habits

  • Change : impact and benefits (including freedom, happiness and success)

IF YOU’RE NOT ENJOYING IT, CHANGE IT.
