Mentoring, as a whole, is perhaps the most underused development tool that businesses have available to them.
All that wealth of knowledge, ideas, skills, experience and support.
But is it being utilised well? I think not.
In this video I look at helping Managers understand how to become mentors.
So, put yourself forward. It doesn't always have to be a formal programme, often the informal conversations are better.
Plus, there is the added benefit of 'reverse' mentoring, which I also discuss in the video.
Think of all that free learning that's available.
But remember, if you do take up mentoring and provide lots of valuable advice, don't forget to step back afterwards and ask "are YOU listening to your own advice?"
