Today's video, 'finding jobs you are good at', is part two of a five part video series to help people getting started in their career.
Please do pass this on to anyone you feel will benefit from these videos.
Do you know what you are good at doing?
If you are at the start of your career, it's unlikely you will have the experience of multiple jobs or even know exactly what you want to do.
So how do you decide what you are good at doing?
First of all, write down what you are good at doing or like doing right now - these could be hobbies, sports, simple skills.
If you are struggling, write down the things you dislike or want to avoid, this will help identify the things you are good at.
Get a list of 50 to 100 ideas of things you are good at.
If you find this difficult and need further help, ask a close friend or family member to help you.
Explain the exercise to them and use them as a sounding board to discuss and get their opinions.
Remember though, this part of the exercise is not about them, its about you and what you are thinking in your head.
I hope you find this a useful exercise. It certainly has helped others clarify their skills and, more importantly, what they do and do not want to do in their career.
Regards, David
